Calculating a Response
-
Metric: Percentage of students enrolled in early college coursework who earn credit-bearing scores on end-of-course tests (for example, a score of 3 or higher on AP tests or 5 or higher on IB tests) or earn postsecondary credit within their dual enrollment courses.
Use the following CEDS elements to identify the school year:
- School Year= the most recent school year or the school year being reported, representing July 1 through June 30.
Use the following CEDS elements to determine the universe of students:??
- Pull all unique students which is determined by using a unique Student Identifierwhere Student Identification System = State?
Where the student:?
- is associated with a State Education Agency through the State Agency Identifierwhere State Agency Identification System= SEA
- is associated with a Local Education Agency through the Local Education Agency Identifier where Local Education Agency Identiication System= SEA, and
- is associated with a K12 school through the School Identifier where School Identification System = SEA
From the universe of students, identify students who enrolled in at least one college level course.
- Pull the unique Course Identifierand/or Advanced Placement Course Code where
- Course Level Characteristic = 00574 (International Baccalaureate course), 00575 (Advanced placement course), 73048 (dual enrollment), or equivalent college level course, where
- Course Level Type = College Level, and where
- Course Begin Date and Course End Date are within the school year being reported.
*If an instance of an AP, IB or dual credit course is taught during a specific term, use Course Section Identifier where Session Type = Semester to identify the course.
Narrow the list of students to those who have earned credit-bearing scores on end-of-course tests using the following CEDS elements:
- Assessment Title= Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and/or Dual Enrollment
- Assessment Result Score Value ≥ 3 on AP tests or ≥ 5 on IB tests
Identify the students who earned postsecondary credit within their dual enrollment courses using the following CEDS elements:
- Dual Credit Dual Enrollment Credits Awarded > 0
To calculate the percentage of students enrolled in early college coursework who earn credit-bearing scores on end-of-course tests or earn postsecondary credit within their dual enrollment courses,
- Count the number of students enrolled in early college coursework who earn credit-bearing scores on end-of-course tests or earn postsecondary credit within their dual enrollment courses.
- Count the total number of students.
- Divide the number of students enrolled in early college coursework who earn credit-bearing scores on end-of-course tests or earn postsecondary credit within their dual enrollment courses by the total number of students and multiply by 100.
Disaggregate by Race
-
Use the following CEDS elements to disaggregate the final set of students by Race:

Disaggregate by Sex
-
*Note: CEDS does not have a Gender element. While Sex is not a proxy for Gender it is the closest approximation currently available.
*Note: Male + Female will not always equal 100% for states that have more choices beyond male and female.
Use the following CEDS elements to disaggregate the final set of students by Sex:

Students without a Disability: A student does not have a disability if allof the following are true:
- Disability Status = No, and
- Primary Disability Type is null, and
- IDEA Indicator = No, and
- Section 504 Status = No
Count the number of students with a disability and the number of students without a disability.
