This metric is part of the Education-to-Workforce (E-W) Indicator Framework, specifically “E-W System Conditions” which pertain to key institutional or systemic environments, policies, and practices within E-W systems that support positive E-W outcomes.

Metric

Metric: K12: Mean scores on family surveys, such as the Panorama Family-School Relationships Survey or CORE Districts School Culture & Climate Survey parent assessment of school-community engagement. 

Use the following CEDS elements to determine the school year:  

• School Year = the most recent school year or the school year being reported, representing July 1 through June 30. 

To determine the universe of families:  

• Pull all unique families which is determined by using the Family Identifier

Where the family 

• is associated with an organization through the Organization Identifier where Organization Identification System = SEA, and
• is associated with a family member through the Person Identifier where Person Identification System = School and Person Relationship Type = Family Member

Determine the families that responded to the survey: 

• Pull all unique assessments which is determined by using the Assessment Identifier, where
• Assessment Type = Survey,
• Assessment Title = the name of the survey, e.g., Panorama Family-School Relationships Survey, CORE Districts School Culture & Climate Survey, or any survey related to school-community engagement,
• Assessment Administration Code is NOT NULL, and
• Assessment Administration Start Date and Assessment Administration Finish Date are within the school year being reported.

Determine the survey score using the following CEDS elements:  

• Assessment Result Score Value is NOT NULL
• Assessment Result Metric Type = Raw Score (03478) 

To calculate the mean score for the survey:  

• Confirm only one survey score per family.
• Sum all scores from the survey.
• Divide the sum of all scores by the total number of families that responded to the survey.

Formula: Mean = (Sum of all scores) / (Number of families)
