I want to...
CEDS offers several ways to help with data integration efforts:
-
You can identify duplicative data collection or conduct a gap analysis across data sources by mapping each data source to CEDS and comparing elements across data sources. To get started, build each map in Align, then compare using the map-based reports.
-
You can implement master data management by building a data dictionary in Align. Review Building a Data Dictionary for more information on how to get started.
-
If you don’t have a definition and/or option set for an element, you can explore the CEDS elements to get started, or you can view the definitions and option sets used by your peers by viewing their maps. You can select the elements that interest you to find others who also collect that data by running an element-based report, and/or you can find the Align maps you are interested in by running a map-based report.
CEDS offers two ways to determine if your reporting and accountability requirements are in line with the data being collected:
-
Connections are available for the federal reporting requirements for EDFacts and Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC). These Connections can be compared with the data dictionary for your data source via myConnect. Note: To use myConnect, you need to use a shared Connection and a shared Align map.
-
Use Connect to build a Connection defining any reporting or accountability requirements. You can then apply the data dictionary for your data source to the Connection via myConnect. Note: To use myConnect, you need to use a shared Connection and a shared Align map.
-
Search existing Connections related to data classification and apply it
to your shared maps via myConnect. Note: To use myConnect, you need to use a shared Connection and a shared Align map.
Below are additional CEDS resources that may help you.
